Villagers of Ioannina City - Age of Aquarius

I grew up in the 70´s with traditional and popular Greek music from Mikis Theodorakis, Maria Farantouri, Demis Roussos, yes and Nana Mouskouri. Later in the 90´s I discovered throughout my Greek friends, who played Rembetiko and other traditionals, Giorgos Dalaras, Vasilis Karras, Tsitsanis among others. So VIC´s two albums for me were and are the perfect cross-over between tradition and modern music.

So I was very excited to listen to their latest tune and be safe, it is still Greek, but the lyrics don´t look back in sorrow times, they even go further back in paganian times, filled with believe and optimism, which means a clearly break with the traditional lyrics in Greek music. Even more their music and themes are completely anti-urban and pro-nature, anti-individual and pro-social and anti-political and pro-human. It is music for playing and listening outside to unite with nature. This record is a dynamic trip through loud, clear and distorted sounds, overthroned by a majestic voice within a perfect production. I had to cry by listening to this album, which means, I´m deeply touched by this record. ευχαριστώ!
