Spin the Skull (POR) - Spin the Skull
Heavystoned Albums · 19.09.2025
Every day, my Bandcamp algorithm sends me interesting new bands from all over the world that I probably won't see at festivals or concerts in the next 25 years. They're either from Canada, New Zealand, or Chile, or they're one-man projects, or they come from a country with a relatively small music scene, like Spin the Skull from Portugal. The cover of their eponymous debut album reminded me of the numerous crust, hardcore, and D-beat bands I listened to in the 80s, and I immediately pressed...

Review Bridge to Hell-Festival 2025
Festivals · 16.09.2025
Thanks to an invitation from the non-profit association "La Boite en Métal," we spent two days in the beautiful town of Crest, located in the heart of the Dròme department, where the fifth edition of the "Bridge to Hell" festival took place. In 2024, this festival also served as a warm-up for Hellfest, and the lineup reads like a who's who of the French metal scene. All the hottest bands except Gojira played there, and in addition to local and French bands, big names like this year's...

Blind Mess (MUC) - The Storm Within
Heavystoned Albums · 05.05.2025
After shaking things up with their last album After The Storm, the Munich-based trio Blind Mess is back – and still pissed, loud, and full of fuzz. Their new album The Storm Within is the second part of their “Storm Duology”, and judging by the four tracks out now, it's going to hit just as hard. The opener "The Bell" already shows where the journey is going: heavy riffs, dirty grooves, and vocals that sound like they're shouted straight from the gut. It’s a song about inner conflict,...

The Orchids (CAN) - The Orchids
Daily Peaks · 22.04.2025
Straight out of Nova Scotia, The Orchids Duo brings their first album, and it's loud, rough, and full of fuzz. With only two people – Rhys Poirier on guitar and vocals, and Alexis Grant on drums – they make enough noise for five. This self-titled debut is not clean or polished. But that's the point. The opening track, "Set It Off", punches right in. Dirty guitar, heavy drums, and a voice that sounds like it smokes unfiltered emotion. It sets the tone: this album is about energy, anger, and...

Dead Acid People (FRA) - Feed me

Haze to Burn(ITA) - Across the Universe
Daily Peaks · 19.11.2024
When I was a child, we went to Italy to eat delicious ice cream, pasta and pizza. You can still do that today, but we the Heavystoned-Team goes to Italy to see really good stoner bands live. The next ones will be Haze to Burn from Pistoia. The first two tracks with titles like "Soul Shaker" and "Brain Blast" clean your head, as the titles say. The band really puts their foot on the gas and rocks straight forward, before falling into more groovy heavy psychedelic rock with "Black Widow". A...

Möuth (SWE) - Dirt
Daily Peaks · 30.10.2024
A promising single by Swedish rockers Möuth. That´s the way I like it, I could listen to it förever (Thank you Lem!) A quite Rock´n Roll-based piece of kick-ass with decent Stoner and Grunge sound, always pushing forward. It´s not that difficult to write these kind of songs which are to less played on stage. This is a band and a style you join on a festival and you leave with a smile. A fantastic appetizer for the upcoming album.

1000mods (GRE) - Cheat Death
Daily Peaks · 08.10.2024
1000mods have slowly grown up and can now draw on a larger music library than on their previous albums. The guitars are no longer tuned so low, Dani's voice has probably found a new inspiration from Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins). In general, this album is the Greek version of Smashing Pumpkins' work "Mellon Cllie and the Infinite Sadness", as the band presents a much larger range of musical styles that don't really fit together. That's what makes this album so exciting. The almost 8-minute...

RDB-Fest 28/9/2024
Festivals · 29.09.2024
What seemed like a coincidence turned out to be one of the best festivals of the year over the course of the day. Starting with the location on a hiking trail through the rocks and maquis at Le fare Les Oliviers, the quality of the bands, the quality of the sound and the light in the venue and the acquaintances we made during the festival. The Kollectors (RUS) - JoyRide
Daily Peaks · 10.09.2024
Thanks to Bandcamp. Today a release by the Russian band "The Kollectors" came through on the Kazakh label "Red Truth Tapes". And the label releases everything that has more than 180 bpm and Marshalls or Orange Stacks turned up to 11. And so do "The Kollectors". Their album "Joyride" dates back to 2017, but is a roaring, stomping piece of hard music that blows the last needles off the Siberian larch trees. There are no fillers on the album, you start listening and then your head falls off your...
