In my age you survived as a musician and music consumer around two rebirths of 70´s rock; it was called Grunge in the 90´s or Stoner in nowadays. In between there was a lot of non-listenable music like Alternative Rock, Noise Rock, Americana and so on. All of them styles had their "Ace of Spades"-Moment in a song or in one record. And if you remind yourself you will find 10 or 20 songs to benchmark them. If this goes in a flow and without planning you will worship this album. Ze Germans...
Ze Germans are playing together since the early 90´s and In fact, 30 years later, they captured a lot of late 80´s and early 90´s styles in their music. You will find Grunge, late Black Flag´s slow aggressive Punk, dropped tuned Stoner sounds, Sludge and a bit of a FOAD-vocals. Heard them for the first time and actually if Smoke Blow would go on tour again, Expand would fit perfectly to them. I guess, their material has to be played on stage at almost 11/10 and with a bit pitched speed on...
It´s named demo and it´s a quite promising demo. It´s not only the typical blend of a bit of Southern Rock, Sludge and Grunge, it´s only a remarkable and aggressive voice which turns the chilly and groovy music into something more dangerous.
Poznan isn´t situated in the desert, but the three members created some fine music which looks back in the 70´s, either the look or the sound of the band.
Kind isn´t kind to all their listeners; a pinch of Alice in Chains, a dose of Sludge and a massive overdose of power are the trademarks for the first track of their upcoming album "Close Encounters", which will be released in August.
Finnish bands are really to able to benchmark music. From the ruins of early Grunge and Stoner in the early 90´s the band created something really excited. They skipped the depressive side of Grunge and Black Sabbath´s influence. The result is this album, a fascinating trip through this revolutionary window of three years of interesting music in the 90´s.
This India power trio blends grunge, punk with a fuzzy tone and vocals in Hindu. Quite exotic and full throttle ahead. Check them out on their Bandcamp site
One week ago I watched a German crime novel on TV and there was a scene for about 30 seconds, when the two detectives went into a bar in Vienna and the camera fixed on this poster. I said to my wife:" Look, there´s a Zeke poster! I have to write to Marky!" A few days later he posted on his facebook account that the creator of this poster, Frank Kozik, died at the age of 61.
