Color Haze, Mother´s Cake, Backstage, Munich
Concerts & Tours · 01.08.2025
Until this concert, we thought we knew all the venues near our beloved Backstage in Munich. The fact that behind the actual Backstage lies the Arena Süd, the size of a Bavarian beer tent with a capacity of around 3,000 spectators, was new to us. The arena is also equipped with a 10,000-watt PA and a similarly large and flexible lighting system. The perfect conditions for a great concert. The Innsbruck band "Mother's Cake" provided support, gleaning their stylistic range and diversity from the...

Bearstone Festival´s Playlist
Festivals · 08.06.2025
We are really looking forward for this festival on which you can never be disappointed; Either the music is interesting, or there's an interesting band playing, or you enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the festival grounds. Either way, you'll be thrilled if you're there. After listening to all the bands, I found the local bands, or rather the bands from neighboring countries, more interesting than the big, well-known names on the bill. Sure, we'll check out the headliners, but we're here...

Electric Citizen (USA) - EC4
Heavystoned Albums · 25.04.2025
Seven years after their last release, Helltown, Electric Citizen returns with EC4, a powerful statement of renewal and raw energy. The album showcases a fusion of hypnotic grooves, searing guitars, and Laura Dolan's mesmerizing vocals. The album opens with "Mire," setting a heavy tone that persists throughout. "Static Vision," the first single, delivers uptempo rhythms and killer guitar work, reminiscent of early Uncle Acid. The track transitions into a slower, ethereal groove with layered...

Temple of Discord (SWE) - In the Ashes
Daily Peaks · 21.02.2025
'In the Ashes' is the brilliant debut album from Swedish heavy rock and metal merchants TEMPLE OF DISCORD, led by Wytch guitarist Mattias Marklund. Dark and brooding, yet radiant with multifaceted appeal, 'In The Ashes' explores a wide range of genres including classic heavy metal, alternative rock and grunge, dark folk, and progressive rock. Marklund's vocals are intense and heartfelt, taking the instrumentation into uncharted emotional territories while constantly hovering on the brink of...

Gaupa (SWE) - Heavy Lord
Daily Peaks · 12.12.2024
The Swedish band Gaupa was one of the best discoveries of the Berlin Desertfest 2023. For the band, musical boundaries only exist to be torn down, no musical style contradicts the other, but rather complements it. This energetic and anarchistic attitude can be heard in the underlying punk attitude in this song. The lyrics also seem to me to be more of a quite personal sound alphabet filled with existential feelings and expressions, a barely unknown combination in this genre. This compact...

Red Scalp (POL) - Halluncination
Heavystoned Albums · 18.11.2024
The album kicks off with "In," a brief yet striking solo saxophone piece that sets the tone perfectly. It's swiftly followed by "Hallucination," where Red Scalp dives into a groove that quotes a bit of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" while also channeling the energy of a club track. Riff lovers, don’t despair—this track rocks, and it rocks even harder when the guitars drop in heavier, backing vocals that ooze with sneezing attitude. There’s an impressive amount happening in this song, and...

Megaton Communion (USA) - Seven Sacred Pools
Daily Peaks · 26.10.2024
A thank you to bandcamp, which offers the platform for countless interesting bands from all over the world to publish their songs or albums. Apparently Ohio is a source of interesting bands like Megaton Communion, who also provide a travel tip to the seven sacred pools in Arizona. For the trip to there, the band delivers a song that apparently never ends, or rather, that is so perfect for cruising that you can listen to it the whole trip and probably will. Very groovy, very heavy and at the...

PsyKa-Festival No5, line-up, venue etc.
Festivals · 19.10.2024
And again: alternative culture in Germany takes place thanks to clubs and cultural associations. Thanks to the non-profit status and some financial compensation, numerous festivals in Germany come about in the first place. This is also the case in Karlsruhe, where PsyKa not only organizes festivals and concerts, but also acts as a label for numerous underground bands. This year's PsyKa Festival offers an interesting cross-section of the underground of the underground, mixed with established...

Robot God (AUS) - Subconscious Awakening
Daily Peaks · 19.09.2024
Actually, songs that are longer than 7 minutes are contrary to me. And if someone sings with an uncomfortable voice, it puts it on the barrel. Robot God seem to be the first exception. I heard their 8-13 minutes lasting songs until the end, then I jumped between interesting riffs within the songs - there are a lot - and heard the whole song again; Yes, it sounds like I could use a musical buffet and could get something new again and again. The whole album sounds fantastic and is an acoustic...
