We actually meet always a bunch of friends and mates when we go to a concert in our beloved Backstage. We actually also know the bands and their members when we go to a concert. So we actually are at least 60% into social things before, during and after a concert. This time we met none of our friends and we were full into the wide spread musical diversity which offered us three fantastic bands on a rainy Sunday evening.
We live close to the Alps, close to the river Isar, where we float and swim and we listen to Heavy Metal. If you visit Tolminator, you have everything of that in one place; a stunning landscape, a beautiful river and a line-up 10/10. The location and the two stages have the right size for an intimate and international festival. We met and talked with 12 different nationalities, heard almost that much of different styles and enjoyed the beauty of Heavy Metal listening to Heavy Metal Bar piano...
Bored of the perpetual mud and rain at Wacken, the gigantomania of the GrasPop Metalfest, or the confines of the artificial world of Hellfest? Then it's time to turn your attention to Slovenia, where the successor festival "Tolminator" is taking place at the site of the already legendary Metaldays. Tolminator means: 5,000 spectators, or 5,000 nerds, who will party, bang, and relax for four days, off the beaten festival path, in beautiful nature on the banks of the Soča River. Is that even...
What seemed like a coincidence turned out to be one of the best festivals of the year over the course of the day. Starting with the location on a hiking trail through the rocks and maquis at Le fare Les Oliviers, the quality of the bands, the quality of the sound and the light in the venue and the acquaintances we made during the festival. Click on the button for the report.
Once there was a boat, traveling in dark winter nights on a black water river. The sailors came out from Catalunya and the wanted to found a band. So they start fishing in this dark water and they captured Death Metal, Black Metal, Doom Metal. Then they asked the devil what to do with all these fragments. And the devil wanted to throw the dice about the destiny of all these dark musical styles. So the band started to throw the dice and the devil creates a dark blend of harmonic music made out...
Our beloved Backstage presented during one evening two different ways to receive ringing ears. Either you only listen to death metal in the hall, or you only listen to thrash metal in the club, or you listen to both for 5 hours. We decided to do both, which was possible by purchasing a combination ticket. Both venues were well filled, the average age in the hall was between 45 and 55 years old, and in the club it was around 30 years old, because two generations of metalheads were at the concert.
This festival is worth to see and it´s almost free to visit. You just have to donate at least 30€ and reserve your camping place and you get the light version of Roadburn-Festival on the meadow.
