Molior Superum (SWE) - Spegeln

The sheer density of outstanding bands in Sweden is almost frightening. They are excellent primarily because they have all truly mastered their craft. Why? Because every Swedish child receives a comprehensive musical education starting in kindergarten and masters—not merely plays—at least one instrument. Molior Superum’s first release appeared in 2012, followed by another in 2019, and now, in 2026, this latest one. All their albums are top-notch in terms of quality—both in production and composition. With its "Boogie-Banger-Rock" style, "Spegeln" serves as an enticing appetizer for the upcoming album. And if that album turns out to be even half as good as this track—which is driven forward by a relentless lead bass line yet, despite all its raw power, still features numerous dynamic and rhythmic breaks—then it comes with a clear recommendation to buy. I also find the stylistic blend of this song particularly interesting: a rather dominant organ—reminiscent of Deep Purple or their compatriots, Spiritual Beggars—handles the rhythmic duties alongside the guitar, paired with an extreme fuzz guitar tone that could have come straight from Matt Pike (Sleep). The entire package is wrapped in a warm, analog production and features a drummer who plays with a strong focus on serving the song. A true daily peak.
