The Atomic Bitchwax, Kant, Blind Mess - Backstage, Munich

We were really amazed about their latest release "The Storm Within" and wrote a review about the EP. Sad to see that a good record doesn´t create a good live band. Maybe the band was a bit nervous to perform in their hometown, I don´t know. The gap between their studio and live sound was too big. Stage is the place to leave the narrow-minded studio and let yourself go. Also your sound, so a bit more midrange dirt on bass and on guitar would have fitted better, also 8-10% more speed on drums. So their songs came out a bit too lame. We love their special mix between Punk, Hardcore and Stoner, so their live sound should have more of those attributes in it.

Kant from Aschaffenburg, same hometown as My Sleeping Karma, are on a way on which nothing can go wrong. Although they just arrived in time for door opening after an 8 hour lasting trip from Cottbus, they installed their merch close to the stage, get dressed, built their rigs, did 10 minutes of a soundcheck, entered the stage 3 minutes later and played a tight, dynamic and progressive set as easy as it could be. They had a perfect sound, and yes, they´re a real band knocking on doors for further success and concerts. We saw them already five times since 2022 and this concert was the best one.

How to recognise that the main act entered the stage? The volume turned to 11. So it was with the New Jersey based band. MC5 turned into NJ3 with a bit more Stoner or Punk in it. The guys really had fun to play and the audience went mad. So we did on the balcony, banging in our plastic chairs and went home with ringing ears and a pain in our neck. The same phrase I wrote after we saw them at the Hellfest 2022 at 11 a.m.
